Project Engineer Dairy Industry

Are you passionate about designing advanced machines and creating precise Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)? Do you thrive on collaboration and sharing your expertise with a team of enthusiastic colleagues? If so, the role of Project Engineer in the dairy industry at Dutch Drying Systems might just be your perfect fit! Explore the exciting opportunities this position has in store for you

Key role for success
As a Project Engineer, you will play a central role in designing dryers for our clients in the food industry. Together with a process technologist and project manager, you’ll draft an initial proposal, including the dryer design and a basic P&ID. Once the client gives the green light, your skills truly come to the forefront.

In this pivotal role, you will bring the initial P&ID to life, transforming it into a detailed design and an accurate P&ID. You’ll make detailed specifications containing the necessary materials, tanks, pumps, valves, sensors, and other components. To ensure compliance with ATEX and CE guidelines, you will also conduct risk analyses.

But that’s not all! You excel at preparing a clear User Requirement Specification (URS) for the various components to be installed. You will share this with suppliers, and based on their offers, you’ll determine which components best meet the URS requirements. Your sharp negotiation skills ensure that we always get the best deals with suppliers. If you disagree with an offer, you’ll effortlessly find suitable alternatives.

Optimal collaboration and customer support
As a Project Engineer, you are the driving force behind the design of the drying systems. With your excellent communication skills, you’ll keep colleagues informed during the design phase and contribute to smooth collaboration within the close-knit project team. You’ll also ensure effective information transfer to your colleagues for the successful assembly, installation, and commissioning of the dryers. Do your colleagues have technical questions? You’ll be their sparring partner with in-depth technical knowledge.

With your collaborative mindset, you’ll also contribute to optimal aftercare for our clients. You’ll develop overviews of essential spare parts for the short and long term, ensuring that our clients can always keep the drying machines operational. Currently, clients can order these parts via email or phone, but we have bigger ambitions. You’ll be eager to get involved in developing a customer portal where all spare parts can be ordered directly. You’ll gather the requirements, wishes, and needs and will involve an external party to develop a suitable solution.

Professional and loyal environment
At Dutch Drying Systems, you’ll work in an informal environment where we place a high value on collegiality. Our organization is professional, loyal, and flat, with attention to the personal lives of our colleagues. At Dutch Drying Systems, you’ll quickly feel at home.

Our company culture is one of “no-nonsense and hands-on,” where colleagues are eager to support each other and long-term involvement is highly valued. We offer you the freedom to make mistakes and learn from them. Additionally, we’re keen to think along with your development and are always ready to support our colleagues.

Besides a professional and loyal work environment, we offer:
• A gross salary between €4,000 and €6,000 per month, depending on your knowledge and experience (based on 38 hours per week);
• A position for 4 or 5 days per week;
• Prospects for a permanent contract;
• Opportunities to attend professional training and courses;
• 24 days paid time off and the option to exchange ‘time-for-time’;
• An onboarding process where we introduce you to our work processes step by step. This ensures you’ll get to know the organization, activities, and way of working;
• Good secondary benefits;
• A solid pension scheme to rely on.

What do we ask of you?
To fulfill this role, we ask of you:
• A higher or academic work and thinking level, obtained through a mechanical engineering, process technology, or equivalent education or gained through work experience;
• At least five years of work experience in a similar role;
• Relevant process and material knowledge (e.g., regarding stainless steel and plastics);
• Experience with AutoCAD;
• Strong Dutch and English communication skills;
• The ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, clients, and suppliers. You can easily switch between different stakeholders;
• An open attitude and ready to think along with colleagues;
• A punctual and accurate way of working;
• Strong problem-solving abilities;
• The enthusiasm to visit clients abroad a few times a year.
